About

Hi - My name is Linda Goin, and I’m a freelance writer and entrepreneur. I began to write (rather poorly) in the early 1990s as I began to tire of my work as a freelance graphic designer. By 1995, I had won thirteen Colorado Press Association Awards under my married name as Linda Goodtimes. The number of awards from this organization was enough to garner their “Shining Star” award that year.

Since then, I’ve experimented with poetry and with Web content. Remember - this happened all before the blog, so when blogs became available I was in seventh heaven. I purchased a few domains without regard to how well they would market or whether I would retain interest in the content. These sites became blogs, and through my content I met many friends and future employers.

I’ve always written as a contract employee, and I’ve enjoyed the freedom that’s inherent in this position. My work, which is linked here from 2001 forward, is a work in progress. Much of my writing from the early years remains online, and I’m accumulating the links to those early articles.

In 2000 I returned to college to finalize a half-baked undergraduate degree in visual communications. I then applied to DePaul University in Chicago and finalized a graduate degree in 2005 at age 51. I received a full scholarship in my final year based upon my scholastic achievements, although - ironically - I struggled with masters-level writing skills. Not so much to hurt my graduation with honors, however.

Since then, my writing has improved tremendously. I don’t intend to become famous - being comfortable is more important to me, especially since I’m involved with projects that I enjoy tremendously.

Many thanks to BUYandHOLD for having faith in me in 2001 and for keeping me on board despite a tenuous one-year initial contract. I’m also indebted to DMXZone.com for carrying me through some rough times over many years. More thanks to Jimmy Atkinson, owner of Dotmarketer.com, for trusting in my skills and abilities. I’ve learned much through these experiences and many more.
